Why Reiki?

Reiki is a form of Japanese energy healing which works on your body’s electromagnetic field (aka energetic field / aura) to promote balance within your mind, body, and spirit. During your session, you will experience a sense of deep relaxation as your nervous system moves from fight-or-flight into rest-and-digest; the optimal state for self-healing. You will find Reiki beneficial if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Stress or anxiety

  • Difficulty sleeping / finding it hard to ‘switch off’

  • Taking on other people’s emotions

  • Feeling overwhelmed

  • Foggy brain / lack of clarity and focus

  • Difficulty with your relationship to food, alcohol, or drugs

  • Lethargy / lack of motivation

  • Lack of harmony in your relationships

  • Anger, sadness, or fear

  • Self-limiting beliefs / issues around self-worth or self-love

  • Difficulty expressing your thoughts or emotions

  • Feeling lost, stuck, or indecisive

Reiki also works on a physical level, and can be beneficial for those suffering from injury or chronic pain. Experiencing a deep, sustained level of rest-and-digest can assist the function of your immune system. Reiki is considered safe for those with epilepsy, diabetes, and heart conditions, and can be enjoyed by women at all stages of pregnancy. It is a wonderful complement to western medicine, including chemotherapy. In all of these instances, it is important to get the green light from your doctor before booking.

Reiki at Your Home

If you live on the Mid North Coast, or Northern Rivers region of NSW I can arrange to come to your home for your session if that’s more accessible for you.

Reiki via Zoom

Reiki healing pays no mind to distance. Wherever you are in the world, simply find a comfortable place to relax and dial into your private session via zoom.

What to expect 

You will remain fully clothed during your session (please wear comfortable clothing with minimal buttons/zips). You will begin lying face down on the therapy table, and I will ask you to turn over roughly half way through the session. For the majority of the session I will not physically touch you; I will be using my hands to clear and harmonise your energy field, working roughly six inches away from your body. Many clients are able to feel the movement of their energy underneath my hands, and can usually sense which area of the body I’m working on even with their eyes closed (it’s a pretty cool feeling!). I may incorporate some physical touch - for example cupping my hands over your ears, or laying my hands on your shoulders, knees and ankles - towards the end of the session in order to ground your energy back into your physical body. Physical touch is completely optional, and can be omitted if you prefer.

Release

Often, past pain or emotions can get stuck in our energy field, particularly in the 7 major energy centres (Chakras) which run down the mid-line of your body. During the healing I will be working to remove these blocks, and you may experience a physical feeling of release. This can sometimes show up as a change in your breathing, laughter, or tears (usually only for a short moment). If you experience this, see if you can let it flow, and know that it’s just your body’s way of assisting the healing process. I am there to hold a safe space for you, and I will ease off if needed. The other common release is falling asleep on the table. This is wonderful, as your body is going deep into rest-and-digest and surrendering to the healing. Please don’t be embarrassed if you fall asleep; enjoy your much needed rest. If you don’t experience any form of physical release, that’s okay too - we all respond to healing in different ways, and you may find that your response varies from session to session.

Afterwards

Most clients report feeling relaxed, and ‘lighter’ after their session. There is generally a 1 - 3 day integration period after the healing, while your body re-aligns to its newly cleared and balanced frequency. You can assist this process by drinking more water than usual, eating wholefoods, and listening to your body if it’s asking for rest. If you are working with any specific symptoms, it can be helpful to keep a diary of any changes over the days and weeks following your session (this will also help when we come to our next consultation).

How often?

How often you feel called to book in for a session will be entirely personal to you. Initially you may want to come once per fortnight / once per month, and then gradually push it out to once per quarter. Your session with me will be 90 minutes (at least 60 minutes of healing time, plus 15 minutes each for pre and post consultation).

Empowering YOU

My approach to healing goes beyond the therapy room. From our initial session together I will be able to offer insight, coaching, and tools (e.g guided meditations) for you to better manage your energetic health in between sessions. This is particularly valuable if you are an energetic empath (i.e you feel, and take on, the emotions of others / you can feel overwhelmed in crowd settings).

As you start to cultivate a greater awareness of how your energy is affecting your life, we can work together towards your health/self-development goals. If it’s right for you, we can start to incorporate other elements such as essential oils, crystal therapy, yoga, massage, and other complementary healing modalities (via myself, or referral to other trusted practitioners).
